A Canadian man who sold the drug Cialis to a pharmacist has been ordered by a judge to pay more than $10,000 in a lawsuit that alleged that he was involved in a scheme that enabled him to obtain a counterfeit version of Viagra from the pharmacy.
Sue Thompson, 57, a pharmacist who was part of a multistate scheme that included a scheme to sell counterfeit drugs and a scheme to sell Cialis for $20,000, was ordered to pay $10,000 for the counterfeit pills she purchased from her home in Surrey.
In the suit, filed in federal court in Vancouver, he alleged that Viagra, the active ingredient in Cialis, had been used to promote the sale of counterfeit drugs in Vancouver, British Columbia, and that the pharmacy in the same location purchased the counterfeit drugs for the sale to an online pharmacy in Canada. Thompson claimed that the pharmacy was operating outside of the United States and that she had purchased the drugs from Canadian customers.
The plaintiff in the case is Thomas Fugh, 59, a family friend and co-worker who has lived in Vancouver for almost two decades. He had been in the United States since his teens when he purchased the drugs from a friend and was prescribed the drugs for his teenage son, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the early 1970s.
On March 13, 1993, Fugh was sentenced to two years in federal prison for misusing the Canadian dollar exchange rate in exchange for the drug. The judge ordered him to pay $10,000 in restitution and ordered him to pay $10,000 in restitution for the mis-selling. He also ordered him to pay $10,000 in the case against his co-workers and his employer, the Richmond International Airport.
The plaintiff's attorney, John Miller, says in the suit that Fugh's son suffered from erectile dysfunction and that the drug was made from an unapproved and unsafe substance and the sale of counterfeit pills was an unauthorized use of the Canadian dollar exchange rate.
The plaintiff said he was a member of a group that promoted the sale of counterfeit drugs to his and his wife's friends. The plaintiff's son, who had been taking Cialis for years, and his wife, Lisa, also purchased the drugs from a friend and also sold them in the Vancouver area from a nearby pharmacy.
During the past four months, Miller has filed suits against various individuals in the United States, Canada, Canada, Canada, and the United Kingdom in relation to the sale of counterfeit drugs. Fugh's lawsuit alleges that the pharmacy in Vancouver was operating outside the United States and that the defendants were making an illegal and dangerous drug supply.

He said the defendants were selling the drugs to his friends in Canada and that the defendants were selling the drugs to his mother and sister in Canada.
The plaintiff said he was told by a friend who was in Vancouver that his son had taken the drug, and was taking it for the purpose of selling it to the defendants. The plaintiff said the plaintiff's mother took the drugs to the Vancouver location from a friend and sold them to the defendant, the Richmond International Airport.
The plaintiff said he was given the drugs in Canada to be shipped to a pharmacy in Vancouver and sold them for $30 a month. He said that he has been arrested in Vancouver for three charges: conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit drugs, receiving counterfeit drugs and selling counterfeit drugs. He said he was arrested and was taken to Vancouver for medical treatment and the hospital.
Miller said that in April 1997, he was charged with two counts of conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit drugs and receiving counterfeit drugs. He said he was given the drugs in the same location that he was selling them to the defendant, the Richmond International Airport.
Miller says the plaintiff's son was arrested in Vancouver in November 1993 for the same purpose.
